CIGARETTE BUTT- PLEASURE OR TOXIN?

I suppose cigarette smokers derive pleasure from smoking. Some smokers smoke to take their mind off a nagging issue. Smoking a cigarette may be a status symbol- showing that you are liberated. Some cigarette smokers say smoking calms their nerves. However one looks at it a form of pleasure is taken from drawing on a cigarette butt, according to cigarette smokers. However, the real trigger of pleasure in smoking is a poisonous substance in tobacco (the main material from which cigarette is made) called nicotine. When the nicotine gets into your system on smoking, the pleasure is triggered. When the nicotine runs out in your system you get the itch to top it up for more pleasure. Thus a ‘vicious’ circle is formed.
But what happens to the cigarette butt?
The cigarette butt eventually ends up as waste. The cigarette butt itself is not smoked, it is the means by which the cigarette smoke is inhaled, and for the supposed pleasure. After smoking the cigarette, the cigarette butt is dropped as waste. The cigarette butt is what remains after the cigarette has been smoked. Go to drinking bars, clubs etc. you will see cigarette butts lying around. Just yesterday I passed a drinking bar and I saw a lot of them lying around. Like plastic and other forms of waste, cigarette butt are supposed to find their way into waste management systems. But you and I know that some waste escape the approved waste management system ending up in the natural environment. Cigarette butt is no exception.
Cigarette butt forms a considerable part of waste polluting the natural environment. Cigarette butt contains substances that are toxins and therefore dangerous to the natural environment. Cigarette butts are not biodegradable. Cigarette butts make the environment (especially beaches) dirty. Toxins from cigarette butt leaches into seas and sand. Fish in the seas eat cigarette butt thinking it is food. The toxin in the cigarette butt is released into the fish.
A little cigarette butt here, a little cigarette butt there add up to a whole lot of cigarette butts, each little butt releasing toxins amounting to, on aggregate, a large amount of toxin which upsets the balance of  the natural environment. An easy mistake to make is to think that the little cigarette butt you are dropping is not enough to upset the natural environment. Think of it this way, that at the material time you are carelessly dropping your cigarette butts into natural environment, millions of others are doing same, simultaneously. On that basis project the scale on which you are helping to upset the environmental balance, given the toxicity of cigarette butts.

I hope that may help you to quit smoking so that the issue of dropping a cigarette butt to litter the natural environment should not happen at all.
