Mother’s Day falls on Sunday, May 14
this year (2017). The day for the observance differs in many countries though.
However, I believe the second Sunday of every May is the leading date for the
observance of the day. The day is dedicated to mothers and motherhood. So
thought, passion and activities are turned on mothers and motherhood.
What I am going to do is to make a
comparative analysis of woman as a mother and planet Earth as a mother to bring
nearer to you how furious mother Earth is getting as her resources are being overexploited.
The center the analysis is as follows:

PREGNANCY
A woman takes seed, and for normally
nine months, a baby grows in her, from fetus to embryo. The baby draws its life
from the woman’s life. The woman undergoes all manner of emotional and chemical
changes. The baby is eventually born. Planet Earth too do take seed, so to
speak. The wind blows seeds around which lands on the ground and it is covered.
Animals eat fruits with their seeds, and when they defecate the seeds are
released into the ground and covered. When it rains, and in due course the seed
germinates and a new life begins.
TAKING CARE OF BABIES
The woman now a mother, in the proper
sense of the word, physiologically speaking, gets into another phase of
motherhood- that is caring for the fresh baby. The mother tends the baby every
which way 24/7 till the baby grows into an adult. Mother Earth in a similar way
takes care of the seed that was deposited into the ground, feeding it with
nutrients for life.
FURY OF A MOTHER
For all the troubles it took for the mother to carry the baby in the
body, give birth to it and take care of it, if one tries to deprive the mother
of the baby then a unique fury is invoked in the mother. A fury that could
perhaps be compared with a lioness deprived of her cub. Similarly, mother Earth
is being deprived of what it gives birth to and cares for. The overexploitation
of the resources of the Earth has sent mother Earth into fits of fury. The
manifestation is climate change, rising water levels, drought etc.
If you know how a mother feels and
reacts when she is deprived of her baby or the baby is injured then you should
know how mother Earth feels.
