I am veering off into the domain of celebrities to share with you what they are doing to help attain a clean and balanced natural environment, sustainably. In this post my focus will be on Angelina Jolie Pitt, professionally an American actress.

SAMLOUT WILDLIFE RESERVE
Angelina Jolie bought a 60,000
hectare Samlout National Park in the Cardamom Mountains in Cambodia which is
being invaded by poachers, and turned it into a wildlife reserve. Cambodia is a
tropical country in Southeast Asia sharing borders with Vietnam, Thailand and
Laos. The activities of the poachers threaten endangered species. In turning
the 60,000 hectare space into a wildlife reserve she protected the area
including the endangered species, from the bad activities of the poachers.
Remember in previous posts I have shown how through food chains or nutrient
cycles matter is used and reused in various forms to sustain a clean and
balanced ecosystems. So given the role played by flora and fauna in
environmental cleanliness and balance, what Angelina Jolie is doing ought to be
appreciated and emulated, no matter how small a scale on which it is done. A
little here, a little there, the natural environment should be better off on
the whole. She expanded the project into a Millennium Village, encompassing ten
villages, and roping in former poachers as rangers.
HARNAS WILDLIFE FOUNDATION
After shooting a film in Namibia
in 2003, she became a patron of Harnas Wildlife Foundation. The foundation is a
wildlife orphanage and medical center in the Kalahari Desert.
NAANKUSE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Jolie jointly set up a foundation (Shiloh Jolie
Pitt Foundation) to support conservation work at Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary (Namibia,
Africa), another reserve in the Kalahari Desert. The Foundation donates cash to
the Sanctuary. The Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary which is supported by Angelina
Jolie Pitt is situated 42 km. east of Windhoek, Namibia. Naankuse is a San
Bushman language meaning God is watching over us.
SCOPE
According to the American
Heritage Science Dictionary: Conservation is the protection, preservation,
management or restoration of natural environments and the ecological
communities that inhabit them. Conservation is generally held to include the
management of the human use of natural resources for current public benefit and
sustainable social and economic utilization.
- With her conservation activities through Maddox Jolie Pitt Foundation Angelina Jolie Pitt is helping in the protection of the rainforest and species of elephants, leopard and other animals in the 60,000 hectare reserve in Cambodia.
- As a patron of Harnas Wildlife Foundation, Angelina Jolie Pitt is helping the foundation that is generally engaged in wildlife welfare and rehabilitation activities. The foundation is based in Namibia, Africa. Specifically the foundation does the following:
- Protect environments with all their life forms.
- Nurse injured animals.
- Rescue and nurture parentless animals.
- Bring the animals back to normal life.
- Eventually release animals into their natural habitat.
- The foundation intends creating a reserve for the release of reformed animals as they are finding it difficult to find places for animals they reform.
- The general activities of Naakuse Wildlife Sanctuary which is supported by Angelina Jolie Pitt is directed at restoring the environment and its natural state. Specifically, the Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary engage in the following activities:
- Taking care of animals without parents.
- Nursing animals that are hurt- cheetah, lions, leopards etc.
- Doing research programs on conservation.
- Reducing conflict between humans and wildlife.
- Relocating animals that disturb farmers- feeding on livestock.
- Angelina Jolie Pitt was among the hundred most influential people in the world between 2006 and 2008 according to TIME Magazine (TIME 100). Surveys carried out by YouGov in 2015 and 2016 show that Angelina Jolie is the most admired woman in the world. In 2001 Angelina Jolie was named a goodwill ambassador for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. I am making this point to show the extent of her influence and therefrom a platform from which to spread the need for environmental conservation, and get people on board.

Angelina Jolie Pitt (née Voight)
is an American actress, filmmaker and humanitarian. She was born on June 4,
1975 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Her parents are actors John Voight and Marcheline
Bertrand. On her father’s side ancestry could be traced to Germany and Slovak,
and on her mother’s side Canada, Netherlands and Germany. Angelina Jolie
herself claims ancestry to native America as well. It is in
the film (acting) “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” that she took my breath away.
SUMMARY

balanced environment. Through the business of acting, Angelina Jolie Pitt was
able to develop and sustain an interconnect between acting and environment
conservation. No matter what you do you can develop a link with the
conservation of the environment too, towards a holistically clean and balanced
environment.
